Russian Pierce-Arrow-Izhorsky Naval Armored Car. Captured by the Germans in the Moon Island, Gulf of Riga, Baltic Sea, October 17, 1917.



This Russian Pierce-Arrow Izhorsky Naval Armored Car was captured by the Germans in the Moon Island in October 17, 1917, during the Battle of Moon Sound, as part of the Albion Operation (*).

Partially destroyed, it was rebuilt and sent to Berlin, where it was used in 1918 by the German revolutionary sailors. Later it fell into the hands of the Freikorps.

(*)- “The Germans were supported by artillery fire, which destroyed a house and a Russian armoured car near the base of the dam on Moon, however, the burning house only served to illuminate the dam and expose the German infantry”. Este Coche Blindado Naval Pierce-Arrow-Izhorsky fue capturado por los alemanes en la Isla de la Luna el 17 de octubre de 1917, durante la Batalla de Moon Sound, como parte de la Operación Albion (*).

Parcialmente destruido, fue reconstruido y enviado a Berlín, donde fue utilizado en 1918 por los marineros revolucionarios alemanes. Más tarde cayó en manos de los Freikorps.
