Panzerkraftwagen Daimler Modell 1915 Modified (of the German 1st Armored Machine Gun Car Platoon)
The German Daimler Armored Car Model 1915 in
Sivry-sur-Meuse, Verdun, France, population that served as barracks basis
of the 1st Armored Car Platoon
"Panzer Kraftwagen Maschinengewehr Zug-1" (Pz.Kw.MG.Zg-1), during the
months of March to June 1916.
During these four months, in which the first combat missions
of the 1st Platoon(*) were made, their armored vehicles were not carrying any
identification: number plates, inscriptions or Iron Crosses.
These identifications were gradually appeared, from August
1916, while the Platoon was destined in Upper Alsace.
At that time, both on the engine bonnet as on the sides of
the armored cars, the abbreviated name of the 1st Platoon was written, exactly:
P. Kr. M. G. Z. 1. Consecutive registration numbers were also assigned to each of the three
Germans "Panzerautos" of the 1st Platoon:
Panzerkraftwagen Ehrhardt M1915: Registration No. B-1593
Panzerkraftwagen Daimler M1915: Registration No. B-1594
Panzerkraftwagen Büssing A5P M1915: Registration No. B-1595
Two other armored cars completed the 1st Platoon:
2 Belgians Minerva Armored Cars, captured by the Germans in
1914-1915. Modified and improved in 1916 (March and May).
Finally, in October 1916, they added the Iron Crosses in
Hungary, where the 1st Platoon was destined to participate in the campaign
against Romania.
I believe that these data can serve you to identify,
chronologically, photographs belonging to the 1st Armored Cars Platoon.
Subsequently, as of November 16, 1916, the 1st Platoon became the 1st Battalion
or Detachment = "Panzer Abteilung Kraftwagen Maschinen Gewehr 1" (Pz
Kw MG Abteilung 1).
(*) In some armies: Section = Platoon, and vice versa.

Panzerkraftwagen Daimler Modell 1915 Modificado (de la 1ª Sección de
Coches Ametralladores Blindados alemanes)
El Coche Blindado alemán Daimler Modelo 1915, fotografiado
en Sivry-sur-Meuse, Verdún, Francia, población que sirvió como acuartelamiento
base de la 1ª Sección de Coches Blindados "Panzer Kraftwagen
Maschinengewehr Zug-1" (Pz.Kw.MG.Zg-1), durante los meses de marzo a junio
de 1916.
Durante esos 4 meses, en los que fueron realizadas las
primeras misiones de combate de la 1ª Sección, sus vehículos blindados no
portaban ningún tipo de identificación: matrículas, inscripciones o Cruces de
Hierro.
Estas identificaciones fueron apareciendo gradualmente a
partir de agosto de 1916, mientras la 1ª Sección estaba destinada en la Alta
Alsacia.
En esa época, tanto sobre el capó del motor como sobre los
laterales de los coches blindados, se
escribió el nombre abreviado de la 1ª Sección, exactamente: P. Kr. M.G. Z. 1.
También se asignaron números consecutivos de matriculación para cada uno
de los tres "Panzerautos" alemanes de la 1ª Sección:
Panzerkraftwagen Ehrhardt M1915: Matrícula Nº - B-1593
Panzerkraftwagen Daimler M1915: Matrícula Nº - B-1594
Panzerkraftwagen Büssing A5P M1915: Matrícula Nº - B-1595
Otros dos coches blindados completaban la 1ª Sección:
2 Coches Blindados Minerva belgas, capturados por los
alemanes en 1914-1915. Modificados y mejorados en marzo y mayo respectivamente
de 1916.
Finalmente, en octubre de 1916, se les añadió las Cruces de
Hierro en Hungría, donde la 1ª Sección había sido destinada para participar en
la campaña contra Rumanía.
Creo que estos datos pueden serviros para identificar,
cronológicamente, las fotografías pertenecientes a los Coches Blindados a la 1ª
Sección. Posteriormente, a partir del 16 de noviembre de 1916, la 1ª Sección se
convirtió en el 1º Batallón o Destacamento = "Panzer Kraftwagen Maschinen
Gewehr Abteilung 1" (Pz Kw MG Abteilung 1).
