THE RUSSIAN WHITE-MGEBROV ARMORED CAR M1915
CALLED, IN 1917,
"IVÁN MERKULEVA"
The 1,5-ton American White light truck, as well as other
vehicles, were donated in 1914 to the Russian Army, by the wealthy St.
Petersburg merchant, Mr. Merkuleva.
These chassis served as the basis for some of the armored
cars made at the Izhorsky factory in 1915, by the brilliant Russian military
designer V. Mgebrov.
The White-Mgebrov Armored Car, after having fought on the
South Front with the 29th platoon, and in view of the need for revision and
repair of its vehicles, the platoon was sent, in 1916, back to the Izhorsky
factory in St. Petersburg for its set-up.
It was during the stay in these workshops when it was
decided to "baptize" the Armored Car as "Ivan Merkuleva",
without a doubt the deceased son in an act of war, of the generous patriot Mr.
Merkuleva. An honorable way of thanking him for his detached donation of 1914.
I write this text by heart, since I don't have at my
disposal the original text that I wrote in previous dates (I have it in an
external disk to which I do not have access at this moment).
I can affirm that what I describe here is true, and that the
real name of White-Mgebrov Armored Car M1915, written on both sides of the
vehicle, in 1917, was that of "Ivan Merkuleva".
The photograph captures one of the moments in which the
platoon to which the White-Mgebrov belonged, along with British armored units
of the RNAS, try to stop the enemy and the Russian troops that retreat in
disbanded from the front, after the unsuccessful offensive of Kerensky in the
spring of 1917.
When you have the text that I wrote before, with detailed
information, I will replace it with this one, totally spontaneous.

EL COCHE BLINDADO RUSO WHITE-MGEBROV M1915
LLAMADO, EN 1917,
"IVÁN MERKULEVA"
El camión ligero norteamericano de 1,5-toneladas White, así
como otros vehículos, fueron donados en 1914 al ejercito ruso, por el rico
comerciante de San Petersburgo, Sr. Merkuleva.
Estos chasis sirvieron como base de algunos de los coches
blindados realizados en la fábrica Izhorsky en 1915, por el genial diseñador
militar ruso V. Mgebrov.
El Coche Blindado White-Mgebrov , después de haber combatido
en el Frente Sur con el 29º pelotón, y ante la necesidad de revisión y
reparación de sus vehículos, el pelotón fue enviado, en 1916, de regreso a la
fábrica Izhorsky de San Petersburgo para su puesta a punto.
Fue durante la estancia en dichos talleres cuando se decidió
"bautizar" al Coche Blindado como "Iván Merkuleva", sin
duda el hijo fallecido en acto de guerra, del generoso patriota Sr. Merkuleva. Una honrosa
forma de agradecerle su desprendida donación de 1914.
Escribo este texto de memoria, ya que no tengo a mi
disposición el texto original que escribí en fechas anteriores (lo tengo en un
disco externo al que no tengo acceso en este momento).
Puedo afirmar que lo que aquí describo es cierto, y que el
nombre verdadero del Coche Blindado White-Mgebrov M1915, escrito en ambos
laterales del vehículo, en 1917, era el de: "Iván Merkuleva".
La fotografía recoge uno de los momentos en que el pelotón
al que pertenecía el White-Mgebrov, junto a unidades blindadas británicas de la
RNAS, intentan detener al enemigo y a las tropas rusas que se retiran en
desbandada del frente, tras la fracasada ofensiva de Kerensky en la primavera
de 1917.
Cuando disponga del texto que escribí anteriormente, con
datos detallados, lo sustituiré por éste, totalmente espontáneo.
