Warning: The originals photos, texts, films, music, etc ... of the period previous to 1921 year -see the Act of the US Congress about it - have no copyright and belong to the public domain. However, those same pictures, I process this blog, when I restore and paint the pictures, then the right of modification is produced, ie that are protected by full copyright law, in this case mine. Of course there are many more laws in the world, declared in the public domain photographs (which is the topic at hand), in very later dates to the aforementioned (Example: WWII, Korea, etc ...) .

  1. Wrong colour ! Belgian kakhi came after WW1.

Colour was the French artillery green, that was not adopted during 1897 trials.

  2. Hello gemsco,

if this is the reason that you bring about the green color vehicles in Belgium army, I regret to communicate that the color adopted by the French artillery was the color "Grey Artillery" and not green.

The French armored cars from the beginning of the war were painted with the color "Grey Artillery".

About the colors of the Belgian first vehicles in 1914, there is a wide variety of colors given by the illustrators: grays, ochers, and light green.

However, from 1915, vehicles are ilustrase preferably with ocher (yellow or dark) or greenish brown.

This choice of ocher colors (khaki) in vehicles coincides with the first deliveries from mid-1915, the new uniform color "khaki" in the Belgian army.

Most were later armored vehicles (including the artillery), camouflage schemes based on two or three colors: dark green, "kaki" (umber) and optionally a sand color.

Therefore the color "khaki" for vehicles and artillery was not adopted by the army after the war, but from mid / late 1915.

I remember that in a museum (Belgian?) exists an ambulance Minerva KK (18CV) 1914, painted a similar color (but lighter) to Peugeot this post.

I'm not interested in your personal opinions and less expressed in the way that you did here. I am interested objectifiable data and documented bibliography of rigorous and reliable sources.

If you have any data "correct and demonstrably" to contribute, on the question of the colors in the Belgian armored vehicles, I will be happy to incorporate them into my archive of work concerning to the Belgian army.

    Hola gemsco,

  3. In these two links you can see the ambulance Minerva KK (18CV) 1914 mentioned above, painted a similar color (but lighter) than the Peugeot of this post.
